The Experience
The Jackson Hole Half Marathon winds through the picturesque Jackson Hole Valley, culminating at the base of the Teton Mountain Range in Teton Village. Runners are treated to breathtaking scenery, with the altitude and majestic mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. This USATF-certified course, first run in 2006, has a net elevation drop and is known for its fast, flat profile, making it a prime spot for personal bests.
The race typically sees around 500 finishers, drawing participants from approximately 28 states. While the field size has seen a recent trend of shrinking, the event maintains a loyal following, with about 7% of participants returning in subsequent years. The atmosphere is often described as low-key and community-focused, with strong production values evident in its organization and support.
Post-race, runners can celebrate at the Teton Village Association's Oktoberfest, enjoying local craft brews. The event offers a chance to explore the vibrant food and art scene of Jackson, along with the natural wonders of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
