Hapalua Hawaii's Half Marathon

The Hapalua is Hawaii's largest half-marathon, drawing ~6,500 finishers to the heart of Waikiki each April. The race starts on Kalākaua Avenue, the main drag of Honolulu's famous beachfront district, and follows a point-to-point route along the Pacific Ocean. With a USATF-certified course and near-zero elevation change, it's a prime target for runners chasing a personal best.

The course is wide, well-marked, and open to all paces—there's no time limit, so walkers and first-timers feel just as welcome as elite contenders. The humid, ocean-breeze air and warm temperatures (typically 69–79°F) add a tropical challenge, but the flat profile keeps the effort honest.

Now in its 14th edition, the Hapalua finishes at Kapiolani Park, where the post-race celebration buzzes with live music and local food.
